Happy 2014!

Hello everybody!!!

I hope you all had a great start into the NEW YEAR! I hope it is a healthy, happy, and successful one for all of you!

I took my annual hiatus from photography and it was great. My "book of ideas" filled up again and so did my equipment room. The most exciting news is that I'm currently working on my brand new studio room! Today we are laying the new floor (vintage oak) and the rest of the week is going to be spent selecting shelving and getting all my equipment and props sorted out and moved in. Then my unlimited shooting fun can begin!

Why is this extra cool? Well, I'll tell you a little secret right now. All of my food, object, tabletop photography had to be set up in various rooms of my house. Each room with no controlled light (meaning too many windows, no way to black out daylight). This essentially meant getting all of my stuff from literally every corner of the house, setting everything up, constantly having to change my lamps because of the changing daylight from the windows, worrying about reflections and too colorful walls, and finally breaking everything down again in the evening (we needed the space, like, say, the kitchen?). Who does that all the time? Well, not me anymore! I will be able to set things up, have everything together in one room - from tripods and backgrounds to lights and props - can fully control my light and, this is the best part, can leave everything there and pick it up again the next day.

This little studio comes in extra handy since we don't have a winter. It is January and we do not have one single little flake of snow! So no landscapes and frosts or any of the other winter-shooting-ideas in my book. Just cosy indoor studio shooting. I have not given up hope that eventually we will have a winter though! And it better comes soon. I live in the Alps, for goodness sake!

I'm looking forward to an awesome 2014 full of fun, creativity, and cool projects!

Again, have a GREAT New Year and tons of fun!

♥ Sabine
