Major Update
Hello everybody,
Only a few days left until it's Christmas again and still a lot to do. I am slowly wrapping up this year though and am looking forward to a few days of rest and fun with the family!
This has been one of the more exciting years of my life and I felt compelled to let you in on a few details. Just for the fun of it. I hope I don't bore you!
The biggest and very personal news DRUM ROLLLLLL: I got married! And I am sharing this because I'm happy :D I was somehow lucky enough to meet my best friend over 6 years ago and guess what? He even proposed! The proposal was a while ago and this summer we DID it. It was wonderful, perfect, fun and with lots of love from everybody there. And definitely one of the awesomemememememest days of my life.
Here is a quick pic:
So, this was no ordinary, plain old wedding. Oh, if picking the dress and deciding on the cake was all we had to do......... No. As some of you might know, I spent a good portion of those years "commuting". The two of us, crazy in love and all, managed to be from two countries. The US and Austria. Just that little pond in between, inconveniently enough. Makes everything very easy. Haha. Ha.
Anyway, after spending what seemed like a lifetime of its own at airports, on planes, and on the phone, we decided that it might actually make sense to decide on ONE country. Smart eh? Before that light bulb went off, I spent about half of the year living in the US and the other half trying to get my photography business going in Austria. Yeah, I know. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
What I'm actually trying to say here is that we not only married this year but also moved - full-time - to Europe! So, two BIG pieces of news, right?!
After an absolutely crazy amount of bureaucracy and an exhausting move and a re-organising of pretty much everyhting and the greatest wedding of all times (yes, it was really cool), my hubby spent time settling in and learning the language and I got back to business.
My very first official act as Mrs. Jacobs was to change my name. No, not talking about passports and licences. Of course, that had to get done as well. I'm talking about changing my name on about 15 Internet sites, my own websites and on what feels now close to 8 billion photos. Joking but it indeed was over 2500 images.
BUT there was a big benefit in all that: I re-did my entire website. New Portfolios, new images, new sections. I hope you already saw some of the improvements and many of the new work I put on here!
Apart from the new images and a lot of behind-the-scenes, boring, technical stuff, this is also new:
- a more detailed search option
- a better and simplified way to order prints
- a "New Photography"
section to get all the new stuff at one glance
- a drop-down menu for all the different galleries for easier navigation
- a Wallpaper section where everybody can easily buy desktop wallpapers for a couple of cents.
- an updated and integrated, additional Fine Art Shop
Any more questions on why we came up with the name BusyBee??
When I was not doing that I photographed, published my third calender, I did assignments, and a number of very interesting projects (that I'm going to tell more about in one of the next posts).
It was a good year and it was exhausting and I'm ready for a vacation. Which is not going to happen any time soon because my calender is already filling up again. And this is good.
That was it. My review of 2012 and a brief story about the girl behind BusyBee Photography. If you are still reading, you didn't fall asleep! Thank you for that ;)
NOW most importantly:
